2011 Slam Dunk Contest
The Slam Dunk Contest can be an annual Nba (NBA) competition held during the NBA AllStar Weekend. The contest was inaugurated through the American Basketball Association (ABA) at its AllStar Game in 1976 in Denver, the same year the slam dunk was legalized in the NCAA. As a result of the ABANBA merger later that year there would 't be another slam dunk contest in the professional level until 1984. The competition currently uses fan voting, via textmessaging, to discover the winner in the final round.
The first slam dunk contest was won by Julius Erving at the 1976 ABA AllStar Game. The present champion from the NBA Dunk Contest is Blake Griffin.
This year's contest included Blake Griffin, Serge Ibaka, Demar Derozan and Javale McGee with Blake Griffin coming away using the trophy for his "Over the Car" dunk!
